I know what you’re thinking, you’ve been stuck mixing a band or doing sound for actors who look exactly like the guys on the left! But seriously, theater sound really has evolved over the years. Now, if you’re a bit worried I’m going to mess with your head in this article on the whole “evolution” subject, please relax, the picture is for amusement – not argument.
Over the years we’ve had the pleasure of working in a variety of theatre productions in sound using a huge variety of equipment and tools. While computers are not yet at the level where they can handle multi-channel “live microphone” sound mixing like our trusty live audio mixers they certainly can handle if not exceed those same live mixing desks when it comes to reproduction of recorded music and sound effects.
